Vorel's back frame is a capsule with both ends rounded along their full height. A horizontal rail runs inside the frame; it is on show in the bare state, and in the upholstered version it sits behind the panel and backs the padding.
On one side the back is carried by the rear leg running on in one piece, and on the other by a slim straight post. The frame stands suspended above the seat, and the gap beneath lightens the chair when seen from behind.
The legs are round in section and tapered, with no stretchers between them. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version, with the back panel and seat upholstered in cream fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with a capsule shaped back frame and the horizontal rail inside it, and round tapered legs. In the upholstered version the back panel and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
