Celmavo Cane Bar Chair

Celmavo's top frame travels from side to side in a single curve. It rises at the back as a broad crescent, drops at both ends and finishes in a short arm cap that sits over the top of each front leg. The frame is filled with cane along its whole length, so the back both supports and lets light through, and no closed mass builds up at bar height.

The arms are not added as separate pieces; they are the frame's own ends, and they are short caps over the front legs rather than long armrests. At the back the frame is carried by the rear legs themselves, which continue up past the seat as slim raked uprights and stop under the rail without crossing in front of the weave.

The legs splay outward as they descend and taper towards the floor. There is a stretcher on each of the four faces, but they are not all in one plane: the two side stretchers are joined noticeably higher than the front and back ones. No single level closes into a ring, and the footrest surface that matters on a bar chair is left at more than one height.
