Nolene's back hoop is not single but double: the wide outer curve wraps the whole way round the back while the lower inner curve runs parallel to it. The band left between them is empty in the bare state and covered in fabric in the upholstered version.
The hoop comes forward on both sides and stops at arm height; there is no separate arm piece. The short uprights between the two curves lock them together and become the pattern of the back when seen from behind.
Seen from the side the legs cross and give a wide footprint. The seat frame is left open to take an upholstered pad. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version upholstered in anthracite fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with a double curved hoop wrapping the back and short uprights between the curves, and crossing legs. In the upholstered version the back band and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
