Rovin A Frame Armchair

Rovin's structure draws an A in profile: front and rear leg converge at the top and open out as they descend. That arrangement makes the chair read as two side frames rather than four separate legs; there is no stretcher anywhere near the floor between the legs, and the lower volume is open throughout.

The back is a shaped panel that turns forward at both ends and drops to arm height; back and arm never read as separate parts but as a continuation of the same line. An open gap is left between the lower edge of the panel and the seat.

The seat is a shaped wooden panel, lightly hollowed at the centre with its edges lifting. The legs are square in section and left with their corners crisp. The only horizontal woodwork visible sits at seat and apron level and consists of two members: a broad flat front rail tying the two front legs, and a much slimmer rail on one side face; both sit at the same level. In the first photograph the chair is complete in natural wood, only the finish and the upholstery are missing; in the second the same panels are covered. The photographs show the natural wood, unupholstered version alongside the walnut stained one with a burgundy fabric upholstered back and seat.
