Arven's back looks carved from a single curve: it rises in the middle and drops to both sides, turning into the arm. That wing like line keeps the chair calm from the front and lively in profile.
A woven cane panel is set into the curve. Because cane lets the back breathe, it stays cooler than an upholstered back over a long meal, and it keeps the frame light enough to move easily.
The legs are square in section and tied with cross stretchers. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version with a brick red fabric upholstered seat.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame and curved back with a natural woven cane back panel. In the upholstered version the seat is padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe the wood with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Clean the cane back with a dry brush or a vacuum brush on low power, and never wet it. Treat stains on the fabric seat promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth.
