Arya Round Back Chair

The Arya back is a full circle panel standing clear of the seat on two slim uprights. The name badge comes from that shape. The circle is a pared back reading of the oval on classic medallion chairs: it reaches the same effect with plain geometry instead of ornament.

The seat is carved to a kidney line that widens toward the front, with a rounded front edge. The legs are turned to a taper and tied at the back by a shaped stretcher. Slim as the chair looks, that stretcher is what lets it take sideways load.

It suits a dining table, a dressing table and a desk. The photographs show the unfinished natural frame alongside the walnut stained version, with the back and seat upholstered in mustard fabric.
