On Rovik the back panel is detached from the rear legs and floats on two slim uprights. The gap left between panel and seat lightens the chair visually and lets air move behind the back.
The legs taper downward and the cross brace under the seat is left in view. On a plain model, showing a structural detail rather than hiding it is what gives the chair its character.
It suits a dining table, a kitchen and a desk. The photographs show the unfinished natural frame alongside the walnut stained version with back and seat upholstered in navy fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame and legs with an oval solid back panel. In the upholstered version the back and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
