Bellamira is the uncarved member of the classic set. The back frame is balloon shaped: it widens at shoulder height and closes at the top in a soft curve. A moulding runs the whole way round the inner edge of the frame, but there is no carving anywhere on it.
Proportion takes the place of ornament. The gap between back and seat, the thickness of the frame and the curve of the legs carry the model's entire effect, which suits rooms that want the classic line without dense decoration.
The front legs are in the curved Louis form and the rear legs splay outward; side stretchers lock the frame. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version upholstered in aubergine fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with a moulded balloon shaped back frame, curved Louis front legs and side stretchers. The back and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
