Rosabelle Carved Medallion Chair

Rosabelle's back is an oval medallion with a slim profile. A crown carved with a scroll motif sits at its top; the motif is worked pierced, so light passes behind it and the very top of the classic form stays light.

The front legs are in the curved Louis form and the rear legs splay outward. The front edge of the seat frame is moulded along its whole length; that shallow hollow breaks the light where a plain edge would not, and makes the frame read slimmer.

Back and seat are upholstered separately, with the seat pad set into the frame. That construction makes reupholstering easy years later. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version upholstered in light blue fabric.
