Dora was drawn with busy places like cafés and restaurants in mind. The legs are square in section and splay downward, and because footrests tie them on all four sides the frame is locked in every direction. At bar height those joints are the ones under most strain.
The back is a rectangular frame set on two uprights. The inside can be upholstered or left open. Left open, the chair reads lighter and does not block the counter when seen from behind.
The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version, with the back panel and seat upholstered in brick red fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with square section legs, a rectangular back frame and footrests on all four sides. In the upholstered version the back panel and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
