Elara carries Melya's crescent crest up to counter height. The crest falls at the nape and the spindles beneath it narrow downward into the seat. Sitting high, the back still finds a broad surface to rest against.
The arms run forward from both sides of the back and stop at elbow height. Arms are uncommon on bar chairs; they were chosen here because they give something to hold while getting on and off a high seat.
The legs splay outward and are tied by footrests on all four sides. The photographs show the unfinished natural frame alongside the walnut stained version, with the crest and seat upholstered in green fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with a carved crescent crest rail, turned spindles and arms, and footrests on all four sides. In the upholstered version the crest and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
