Elaria's arm starts at the rear post, drops forward in a soft sweep and stops above the front leg. The space under the sweep stays open, so the arm gives support without adding weight to the frame.
The back frame is set at a recline with a rebate cut into its inner edge. That rebate is empty in the bare state and closed with a panel in the upholstered version, leaving the slim profile of the frame visible around it.
The seat frame is left open to take a thick cushion. The legs taper towards the floor and run free from the seat rails all the way down; there is no stretcher between them at all. A slim curved strut drops from the rear end of the arm to the rear leg, leaving a leaf shaped void between arm and post. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version upholstered in aubergine fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with arms dropping from the rear post to the front leg in one sweep, a rebated back frame and a curved strut from the arm down to the rear leg. In the upholstered version the back panel and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
