Elya's back is a single curved shell. A round section band passes in front of it and wraps the whole way round the frame; that band is the armrest and the support of the back at the same time.
The two ends of the band are not cut off at the front legs but run a few centimetres further forward, finishing in blunt round tips. Those projecting ends are the model's signature. The long oval voids cut into the side frames carry the same idea further: the wood is left only where it takes load.
The legs are turned to a taper and splay outward. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version, with the back and seat upholstered in navy fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with a round section arm band that wraps the whole way round and a curved back shell. In the upholstered version the back and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
