Havor Medallion Armchair

Havor's back is a closed oval medallion with no carving at all at the top. A slim bead travels around the outside of the oval and steps inward; the upholstery sits inside that step and the edge of the fabric disappears under the wood. In the bare frame photograph the same oval stands as an empty ring.

The arms run almost straight forward and finish by rolling outward at the tip, with a slim bead along their underside. The support beneath each arm drops on a forward leaning line to the side seat rail, landing a little behind the front leg. There is no infill between the arm and the seat; the opening is left clear.

The front legs are curved in the Louis idiom; they push out at the knee, turn back in towards the ankle and finish on a small pad foot. The rear legs sweep back and there are no stretchers between the legs. The front edge of the seat rail draws a soft curve that pushes forward at the centre. The photographs show the bare, unfinished and unupholstered frame alongside the walnut stained version with a pale grey fabric upholstered back and seat.
