Kerensa's back shell rises at the centre and drops to both sides to draw a wing. The shell does not rest on the arms; it stays behind them, and the thin gap between lightens the frame in profile.
The arched voids under the arms are the model's signature. That opening between the arm and the front leg takes the material away from where it carries no load and leaves only what is needed.
Seen from the side the legs cross in an A; the wide footprint works against tipping. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version, with the back shell and seat upholstered in dusty rose fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with arched voids under the arms, A shaped crossing legs and a wing shaped back shell. In the upholstered version the back shell and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
