Liva sets Orven's medallion back together with arms. The back is an oval frame, upholstered inside, with the slim profile of the wood left visible around it. It is used as the head chair of a classic set.
The arms curl forward to a stop and sit on curved supports. The front legs are fluted and turned while the rear legs splay outward; the seat frame is mortise and tenon jointed with the upholstered pad set into it.
That construction leaves the chair open to being reupholstered years later. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version upholstered in anthracite fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with an oval medallion back, scrolled arms and fluted turned front legs. The back and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
