Lorencia has no back and at 45 cm stays at chair seat height. It tucks under a table, serves for putting shoes on in the hall, and becomes a small side table when set beside an armchair.
The four legs are turned to a taper and splay outward as they go down, so the footprint on the floor is noticeably wider than the seat. The stretchers are not tied low down but just under the seat: a short centre rail meets the two side rails at slightly staggered heights and draws an offset H. Tied high like this, the arrangement leaves the space under the stool completely clear.
The seat is cut as a full circle with a rounded edge. The photographs show the unfinished natural frame alongside the walnut stained version with a cream fabric upholstered seat.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame and turned tapered legs with a round wooden seat and stretchers in an offset H. In the upholstered version the seat is padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
