Marcelia has no back and tucks fully under the counter when it is not in use. The height is 70 cm, which matches a standard bar counter and kitchen island.
The four legs are turned to a taper and splay outward as they go down. The stretchers between them are tied close to the base at two different levels: that arrangement locks the frame and gives the foot a surface to rest on while leaving the space under the seat clear.
The seat is cut as a full circle with rounded edges. The photographs show the unfinished natural frame alongside the walnut stained version with a brown fabric upholstered seat.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame and turned tapered legs with a round wooden seat and stretchers at two levels. In the upholstered version the seat is padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
