Neva carries Dorel's cross back up to bar height. The X brace stops the back from spreading sideways, and at bar height that joint is where the chair is worked hardest.
The legs are square in section and straight, splaying slightly as they descend. Footrests on all four sides give the feet somewhere to rest and lock the frame at the same time. It was drawn for cafés and restaurants, where a chair is pulled out and pushed back dozens of times a day.
The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version, with the back panel and seat upholstered in brown fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with square section legs, an X braced back and footrests on all four sides. In the upholstered version the back panel and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
