Nevro Carved Cane Shield Chair

Nevro is the carved counterpart to Alvix: it shares the same shield form and the same curved Louis leg, and is again filled with cane, but a carved crest in the leaf and scroll idiom sits at the centre of the arch. The crest is added as a separate piece and breaks the outline of the shield upward.

The top rail is serpentine: on either side of the arch that rises at the centre the shoulders hollow into a concave sweep. A slim bead runs along the inner edge of the frame and draws the boundary of the cane. The shield does not touch the seat but stands on two uprights rising from the back.

The front legs are curved in the Louis idiom and finish on a small pad foot; the rear legs are plain and raked back. There are no stretchers between the legs. In the bare frame photograph the cane is already stretched; the only thing left empty is the seat opening. The photographs show the bare, unfinished and unupholstered frame alongside the walnut stained version with a mustard fabric upholstered seat.
