Nimarina's top frame is one piece. It starts behind the back, curves out to both sides like the hull of a boat and drops forward to become the arm. There is no separate arm piece, and so no joint on the frame to be worked.
A second curve runs beneath the arm, reaching forward from the rear leg. The void left between the two curves lightens the chair in profile and keeps the classic form from sitting heavily.
The back panel sits inside the frame, while the seat frame is left open to take an upholstered pad. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version upholstered in anthracite fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with a one piece curved top frame that becomes the arms, a second curved arm support and a rebated back panel. In the upholstered version the back panel and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
