Oriana uses the same top rail as Belindra at bar height. The rail is bent in one piece, wraps to both sides and drops forward to finish in rounded tips; at the counter the back and the arm lean on the same piece.
The Y shaped centre splat supports the middle of the rail. At bar height the frame is taller, so that support is a matter of durability rather than rest: it keeps the slim section of the rail from opening over time.
The legs are round in section and tapered; the stretchers are tied at different levels, locking the frame and giving the feet a surface to rest on. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version with a burgundy fabric upholstered seat.
Materials and fabric
Steam bent solid beech top rail with a Y shaped centre splat, round tapered legs and stretchers at different levels. In the upholstered version the seat is padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
