Paralina's back is a single rail steam bent into a hoop. Both ends of the hoop go straight into the seat with no separate post between, which is the arrangement that has defined the Windsor chair for a century.
Turned spindles are ranged inside the hoop. They sit close together at the bottom and open slightly towards the top, supporting the hoop from the inside.
The seat is opened with a shallow dish and rounded over the whole way round into a thick, soft edge. The legs enter its underside directly, with no apron or seat rail, and are tied by three stretchers in an H. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version with a navy fabric upholstered seat.
Materials and fabric
Steam bent solid beech hoop back with turned spindles, a shallow dished seat panel, turned tapered legs and stretchers in an H. In the upholstered version the seat is padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
