Valleria uses Selene's back arrangement without arms. The spindles rise out of the seat, open upwards like a fan and run into the crescent crest rail, which dips at the centre and lifts to both sides.
With no arms the chair tucks fully under the table and takes less room when several are ranged side by side. At the same table Selene serves as the head chair and Valleria as the side chair.
The seat is carved into a saddle with a rounded front edge. The legs are turned to a taper and splay in four directions. The photographs show the unfinished natural frame alongside the walnut stained version with a mustard yellow fabric upholstered seat.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with turned back spindles set like a fan, a crescent crest rail, a seat carved into a saddle and turned tapered legs and stretchers. In the upholstered version the seat is padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
