Pelmavo's back is a broad panel with generously rounded corners. In the upholstered version the pad drops inside it and a narrow wooden surround stays exposed on all four sides. The panel does not touch the seat: it stands on two rear posts and leaves an open gap beneath it.
The rear posts start close together where they leave the seat, splay outward as they rise and meet the panel a little inboard of its outer corners. Seen from the front this splay gives the chair a V that widens upward, and an open triangle is left between the back and the seat.
The seat rail is a closed frame with softened corners, left empty in the bare frame photograph. The legs start from a square section, are lightly shaped as they taper towards the floor and carry no stretchers between them. The photographs show the bare, unfinished and unupholstered frame alongside the walnut stained version with a dark green fabric upholstered back and seat.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with a broad back panel with rounded corners, rear posts that splay outward as they rise, a seat rail with softened corners and legs without stretchers. In the upholstered version the back panel and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
