Perlissa's back is an oval medallion filled with woven cane. The two posts that carry it rise out of the seat, curve gently outwards and join the shoulders of the frame; the gap between lightens the chair when seen from behind.
It shares the medallion idea with Aveloria and parts from it by being pared back: there is no turned collar, no spindle and no star stretcher, leaving only the medallion and its two posts.
The legs are round in section. There is a stretcher only on each side, tied high up near the seat rather than low down; the front and back faces are left open. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version with a khaki fabric upholstered seat.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with a natural woven cane back panel stretched into an oval frame, curved rear posts, round section legs and a single high stretcher on each side. In the upholstered version the seat is padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe the wood with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Clean the cane back with a dry brush or a vacuum brush on low power, and never wet it. Treat stains on the fabric seat promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth.
