Sena's arm starts at the rear leg, runs round behind the back and drops forward in a single sweep. The end of the sweep is rounded and sits on an upright support at the front: that is where the palm meets the arm.
The back panel is flat and rectangular and sits behind the curve of the arm. Setting a curved arm beside a flat panel is what makes the model's character; one soft line and one hard line live in the same frame.
The legs are round in section, tapered and splayed; side stretchers and lower rails lock the frame. The photographs show the unfinished natural frame alongside the walnut stained version, with the back panel and seat upholstered in sage green fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with arms that sweep from back to front in one piece, a flat rectangular back panel and a solid seat. In the upholstered version the back panel and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
