Solandra's back panel is teardrop shaped: it starts broad on one side and narrows towards the other. The panel sits reclined on two posts and stands clear of the seat.
The rear posts run in one piece from the floor up to the panel and lean back slightly. The front legs are upright and the stretchers between them stay under the seat, which is why the frame reads plain in profile.
The seat is cut in a soft form that widens towards the front. The photographs show the unfinished natural frame alongside the walnut stained version, with the back panel and seat upholstered in teal blue fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with a teardrop shaped back panel, rear posts running in one piece and stretchers under the seat. In the upholstered version the back panel and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
