Taren was drawn as the head chair of a classic dining set. The acanthus motif at the top of the back is hand carved, and the centre of the back is genuine woven cane. Because cane lets the back breathe, it stays cooler than an upholstered back over a long meal.
The front legs are curved in the cabriole manner and the rear legs splay outward. The seat frame is mortise and tenon jointed with the upholstered pad set into it, a construction that leaves the chair open to being reupholstered years later.
The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version upholstered in petrol blue fabric. The cane back keeps its natural colour in both.

Solid beech frame with a hand carved crest and a natural woven cane back panel. The seat is padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe the wood with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Clean the cane back with a dry brush or a vacuum brush on low power, and never wet it. Treat stains on the fabric seat promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth.
