Valessia carries Vela's unbroken arm line up to bar height. The line begins at the top edge of the back, comes forward as the arm and turns into the front leg with no joint showing.
The footrest is not wood but a square frame in dark metal. That is the point that wears most on a bar chair; metal removes the risk of the wood being worn hollow over the years and keeps the leg section slim.
The seat frame is left open so an upholstered pad drops into it, and a separate upholstered strip runs in the opening of the back. The photographs show the bare frame alongside the walnut stained version upholstered in lilac fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with arms running unbroken from the back to the front leg and a square footrest in dark metal. In the upholstered version the back strip and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
