Varno's upper frame is a single curve. The line starts at the middle of the back, opens to both sides, drops and runs forward as the arm. Because the joints are hidden inside the curve, the chair reads as if carved from one piece.
Back support concentrates at the waist, and the arms are kept low enough not to block the table. The chair therefore tucks under a dining or a meeting table.
The photographs show the unfinished natural frame alongside the walnut stained version upholstered in olive green fabric.
Materials and fabric
Solid beech frame with a shaped curved upper body. In the upholstered version the back pad and seat are padded and covered in upholstery fabric.
Care
Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Treat stains on fabric promptly and locally with a lightly dampened cloth. Keep the wood out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, and check the joint screws once a year.
