Vorli Cane Chair

Vorli's back is a rectangular frame with rounded corners, filled with woven cane. The frame does not sit on the seat but floats above it. The panel is broader than it is tall, so lined up around a table the chairs do not block the view from behind.

The rear leg is not cut off at the seat: it carries on upward in the same line and turns into the side edge of the back frame. The leg breaks slightly backward through that transition and then widens on a rounded shoulder where it reaches the panel, and the chair's profile is built on that single break. On the right face, immediately under the seat board, a short horizontal seat rail ties the seat frame to the rear leg; it stays in the plane of the seat and is not a low stretcher or a footrest.

The front legs are round in section and taper towards the floor. There is no stretcher between the legs at any level; the rigidity comes from the seat rails. In the bare frame photograph the seat is still a raw blank: its top face is pale, its edge fibrous and clearly different from the timber of the frame. The photographs show the bare, unfinished and unupholstered frame alongside the walnut stained version with a green fabric upholstered seat.
